Operation: Teddy Bear

Operation Teddy Bear is a ministry of the Children’s Gospel Box. For over 15 years the CG Box has trained and resourced over 17,000 children’s ministry leaders in 55 nations, reaching over one million children with the gospel.

Operation Teddy Bear can go where the CG Box can’t, opening the door through love and tangible compassion to share the love of Jesus in countries closed or difficult to share the gospel. Our focus is to children with wounded hearts, abused bodies, abandoned or trafficked.

The Beginning

On the crowded streets of Cairo, Egypt I was approached by a dozen young homeless girls ranging from age 6 to 12. As I began to reach into my pocket, my host, an Egyptian pastor, told me not to give them any money.

Confused, I did as I was told but then became horrified at what began to happen. These little girls started to disrobe and offer us their bodies.

It was there this pastor shared the tragic results of the Arab Spring and riots leaving a million plus abandoned, and often trafficked, children in Cairo. Later that day, as I cried out to the Lord, “What can we do for these children?” his voice spoke clearly, along with an image of a teddy bear, “Tell them there is a love that won’t hurt their bodies.”

Sharing the Good News with tangible love...

This year:

Nepal – An Operation Teddy Bear team will work with an effective, established ministry in Kathmandu to partner with them to seek out children in crisis.

Thailand – An Operation Teddy Bear team will partner with a “Safe House” in one of the global leaders in sex trafficking, Thailand. This home rescues young girls from the streets and takes care of all of their needs.

Egypt – An Operation Teddy Bear team will follow up its successful outreach to the street children of Cairo with the goal of reaching over 1,000 street children who are gravely ill and have nowhere to turn. We work with an amazing group of Egyptian believers.

You can help share the love of God in a tangible way to thousands of unwanted and unloved children. By sponsoring a bear for $100 you give us the ability to partner with an effective and established ministry – that loves on these young people.

Your “Bear-hug” will reach five children providing each with a teddy bear, a card that gives them hope, and a referral – to our partner ministry. Your “hug” will also financially assist these ministries with gospel resources, food, and clothes for the children.

Additionally, you can purchase a Bear-hug t-shirt for $25 that will also go toward this outreach.

“FMP’s Teddy Bear project has provided us a tangible way to share the love of God with the least and the lost. Our church has rallied around the idea of giving a “bear hug” to abandoned, trafficked and terminally ill children in Egypt and Nepal. Being Jesus with “fur on” is a great reminder of the comfort and love of our Heavenly Father.”
